Our London Bucket List (circa 2009)

Lisa was flicking through her journal that she keeps everytime she goes away and found this list the other day. (Sidepoint: Re Journals.  We have 10s of them, sitting in random places around the house, able to be picked at random and at will, the browse through and help support our memories and any reminiscing they feed – by the way, see our future blog post on why memories are not even close to the most important thing about travel).

Lists are something we love to create when it comes to travel and experiences.  Lists set challenges and goals for us, and centre our actions.  I think we need to start to build one for the upcoming trip to Asia!

This one was about the 29 things we wanted to see and do in London when we packed up and moved there for 18 months in 2009.  We ‘ticked’ off all but one, “punting”.  We hope this list brings back some memories for some of you!

  1. The Darwin Centre
  2. Opera/Ballet
  3. Buckingham Palace
  4. West End Musical
  5. British Museum
  6. Natural History Museum
  7. Soho
  8. London Eye
  9. Brighton
  10. Cambridge
  11. London Tower
  12. St Paul’s Cathedral
  13. Hampstead Heath
  14. Colombia Road Flower Market
  15. Camden Market
  16. Punting
  17. Regents Park
  18. Harrods (high tea)
  19. British Library
  20. Football (soccer) Match
  21. Shakespeare’s Globe
  22. Michelin Star Restaurant
  23. Madame Tussaud
  24. Lords Cricket Ground
  25. Speakers Corner
  26. Cruise on the Thames
  27. Ice Skating
  28. Christmas Markets/Winter wonderland in Hyde Park
  29. Live music gig

We clearly missed the big ones like drinking pints of cider and beer and eating chip sandwiches. But that’s a given.

What are some of the things that you’d have on your London Bucketlist?  Did we miss anything?
